Are you ready to buy?

Buying a home, especially your first home, can be stressful but also exciting and a lot of fun. There are a lot of differences between owning and renting and each have their own advantages and disadvantages. This guide will help you decide if home ownership is the right choice for you.

  • Are you financially stable?
  • Can you afford the mortgage, condo fees, and maintenance?
  • Are you interested in maintaining a property?
  • Can you afford to buy in the areas you like?

Benefits to buying a home

Often buying a home is simply a less expensive option compared to renting when housing appreciation and rent increases are factored in. Owning has more responsibilities and more risk but the advantages include:

  • Financial growth through equity
  • Leveraged investment with low down payment
  • Control of your space to decorate or renovate
  • Payments that actually decline in real terms through the life of the mortgage
  • Sense of pride in ownership

About Wendy

It’s my love of animals that lead me to a career as a Realtor. I am an animal lover, particularly dogs, just don’t tell my cat, Karma.

After 17 years employed by a large real estate company in Guelph, I was thrilled at the opportunity for a new adventure with the local Humane Society. Did I mention, I love animals?

Soon after I joined the Humane Society, I left the Humane Society. I love animals, particularly dogs and in no time I wanted to bring every one of them home to live with me in my townhouse.

The Humane Society is a wonderful organization, just not the place for a bleeding heart like me. Trusting I would find a place that would be a match for my caring concern for the needs of others, I next worked a couple of years for a real estate lawyer. During that time, I decided to include real estate sales to my administrative and legal skills. I took the required courses and exams and successfully obtained my real estate license in 2004. I found my passion. Selling real estate!

Five years ago, I moved back to my friendly, lake side home town of Port Dover and joined Coldwell Banker Coastline Realty Brokerage.

I’m so glad to be back living life in Norfolk County and helping clients buy and sell in the area. I love animals. It’s exciting when you find a good home for an animal. I love selling real estate and I would be excited to sell you a good home too!
